ABAC (APEC Business Advisory Council)
2008 Meetings
ABAC held four meetings during 2008: in Jakarta, Moscow, Hangzhou and Lima.
The main agenda item was to complete an Interim Report to Ministers Responsible for Trade on current issues of concern to regional business. The WTO Doha Round was at the top of the list, followed by discussion of moves to promote regional economic integration. ABAC New Zealand pursued several initiatives in trade liberalisation and facilitation that were commenced at the first meeting in Jakarta in February 2008 in areas such as corporate social responsibility, trade in environmental goods and services, and behind-the-border market access issues.
